Where do UK fuel prices come from?

Fuel Finder UK uses the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) open fuel price dataset. Major fuel retailers submit station prices to the scheme, making it possible to compare petrol and diesel prices in one place instead of checking each retailer separately.

How often are prices updated?

Prices are refreshed from available retailer feeds every 30 minutes. A price is still a snapshot: the forecourt may change it later, and a station can temporarily run out of a grade. Always check the station details before making a long detour.

Petrol or diesel: what can you compare?

You can compare standard petrol, premium petrol, standard diesel and other grades supported by the CMA data. Filter by fuel type, then sort by price or distance. Brand filters help when you have a loyalty card or prefer a particular retailer.

How to make a fair comparison

Example: a 3p per litre difference saves £1.50 on a 50-litre fill. If the cheaper station is several miles away, the fuel used for the detour can cancel out that saving.
