Fuel Finder v40 for iOS: price drop alerts, and ready for iPhone Duo
Version 40 is out on the App Store, and it is our biggest update yet. Your favourite stations now tell you when they get cheaper, you can share a good price in one tap, and the app is ready for iPhone Duo, Apple's first folding iPhone, three weeks before it goes on sale on 23 October.

Price Drop Alerts
Pick your favourite stations and they keep an eye on their own prices. When one gets cheaper, you get an alert, even when the app is closed.
- Real drops only. Alerts fire for a genuine new low, not for tiny wobbles.
- How much and when. Each favourite shows its latest move, such as how many pence it fell and when it changed.
- A Price Drops screen. Every drop is listed in one place, with a badge so you do not miss one.
- Your first alert is free. Premium gives you alerts on every favourite.
To switch it on, open the Stations tab and flip the Price Drop Alerts switch on any favourite.
It comes at a useful time. On 2 October 2026 the UK average is 174.8p a litre for petrol and 200.0p for diesel, and prices have been climbing for weeks. When your usual station does cut its price, you will know. Read which days forecourts change their prices.
Spotted a good price? Open any station and tap Share This Price, just under Get Directions. Friends and family get the price, the address and a map link, by Messages, WhatsApp or whatever you use. Every share is another driver who stops overpaying.
Ready for iPhone Duo, three weeks early
iPhone Duo is Apple's first folding iPhone, and it sits right at the top of the range. Apple announced it on 9 September 2026. Pre-orders open on 16 October and it goes on sale on 23 October, starting at $1,999 in the US.
Closed, it is a small phone with a 5.4-inch screen. Opened up, the inner screen is 7.6 inches, not far off an iPad mini, and it brings side-by-side layouts that used to be for iPad only. That is a lot more room for a map.
Version 40 reached the App Store on 1 October, so Fuel Finder supports iPhone Duo 22 days before anyone can buy one. If you are getting one on launch day, the app is already waiting for it.
Unfold iPhone Duo and turn it sideways, and Fuel Finder switches to a new split view: your station list on the left and the live map on the right. Tap a station and its full details open alongside. Fold it back up and the app carries on as normal. It adjusts as you fold, rotate or resize.

We made it a priority because a bigger screen is a better way to look at a map. More screen means more stations and more prices at a glance.
Try it now on iPad
You do not have to wait for the Duo. The same split view is in version 40 on iPad today. Turn any iPad to landscape and the list and the map sit side by side. On the larger iPads it works in portrait too.
If you have an iPad, that is the quickest way to see what Fuel Finder will look like on a folding iPhone.

Also in this update
- Plan a route from where you are now. The app asks for your location only when you need it.
- Banner ads fit neatly in split view and Stage Manager.
- A faster Stations tab and reports list.
- Map prices stay in step with your favourites when you come back to the app.
- Tidier labels that no longer wrap mid-word.
How to get it
Version 40 is a free update for iPhone and iPad, and needs iOS 17.6 or later. Everything you need to compare fuel prices stays free. Premium is a one-time purchase that removes ads and unlocks Apple CarPlay, unlimited route plans and unlimited Price Drop Alerts.
On 2 October 2026 Fuel Finder UK is rated 4.6 out of 5 on the App Store, from 140 ratings.
